Natasha Hughes
BSc, MTeach
Growing up, I loved being outdoors and relaxing in nature. Following my interests, I studied Science at Melbourne University, majoring in Zoology and Environmental Science. Over time, my passion for igniting curiosity in children developed, leading to further study in the educational field. I currently work as a STEAM and High-Ability teacher at a local school, enjoying exposing students to new concepts and an increased interest in the world around them. I was excited to be offered a facilitator position at the developing Yinnar Research Park, and am enjoying watching students of all interests and abilities engage in our hands-on programs. I fully believe that excursions like ours are the ideal way in which to inspire students of today, creating innovative and caring leaders of the future.
Norma Fernando
BSc. (Hons) Biotechnology
Assistant STEAM Teacher at MaxBioCare Research Park, Norma holds a bachelor of honours degree specializing in Biotechnology and currently pursuing her PhD in Environmental science from Federation University. She has over 3 years of experience in teaching biology and chemistry for both university students and secondary school students. With a background in research and teaching, she is committed to fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in young learners. Norma believes in creating dynamic, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity and inspire creativity in students. With a knack for making complex concepts accessible and engaging, she cultivates an inclusive learning environment where all students feel empowered to explore, experiment, and discover.
Meet the Team of Volunteers
Tim Neave
.Tim has been a teacher both in the UK and Australia for 35 years teaching Mathematics, Science and Physics, and is currently senior science coordinator at Chairo Christian School, Pakenham. Tim’s role is to overview the development of Inquire Science and to liaise with schools and the wider community. Qualifications M.A. (Educational Management), B.A., B.Ed, Cert IV Training and Assessment.
Bill Ringin
.Bill has contributed his time and talents to many not-for-profit organizations. As a master Beekeeper Bill is bringing his 50 years of knowledge to Inquire Science to run the much-loved Bee husbandry program. Bill is a committee member for Old Gippstown, and a life member of Moe Historical Society. In 2019 Bill was voted as Trafalgar Citizen of the year for his contribution and commitment to local organisations.
Linda Neave
As treasurer Linda will be working closely with local Moe bookkeeper ‘Office in a Box’ and RGM Accountants, Moe. Linda has run her own business as a counsellor for over 25 years and has been a school counsellor in The UK and Australia. For Inquire Science she and has helped in developing pastoral care for visiting students. As a keen Beekeeper and board member for the Gippsland Apiarist Association, Linda is also a co presenter of the Bee Husbandry program for Inquire Science.
Judy Stewart
Currently working as a science Ag/Hort teacher at Lowanna College, Newborough Judy also has 20 years’ experience as a business owner. As well as her role as Secretary Judy is also bringing her knowledge and passion for Environmental and sustainable practices in agriculture and horticulture and will help to develop Inquire Science Programs in these areas.
Qualifications BSc, Grad Dip Ed, MSE. Certificate IV for electrical technology, advanced diploma mechanical engineering, certificate in communication for impact and influence, through Cambridge University.
Peter North
Peter has 25 years’ experience in 0H&S and is a highly skilled in training and document development. Qualifications, diploma in OH&S Certificate IV in environmental safety systems.
